Mono Town sign with Record Records
We are delighted to announce that we are releasing the much-anticipated debut album by Icelandic band Mono Town on our Record Records label. “In The Eye Of The Storm” will be available digitally on February 10, 2014 via www.tonlist.is. The physical album will be available on CD & vinyl in Iceland on March 11 & pre-sale orders are now being taken on the Record Records website, which will also be available for International Shipping via www.recordrecords.com
“In The Eye Of The Storm” is an exceptionally well written and crafted body of work which builds on equal proportions of beauty, drama and melody and manages to add perfectly sized fractions of narrative tension and rawness into to the songs. Mono Town consists of multi-instrumentalist brothers - Börkur Hrafn Birgisson & Daði Birgisson, and lead vocalist & guitarist, Bjarki Sigurðsson. Self-produced and recorded by the band, the album was recorded in Reykjavik and then travelled to New York to be mixed by the Grammy Award Winning mixer, Michael Brauer.
Having just returned from a sold-out show in Paris at the Point Ephémère; Mono Town are already gaining international attention, including the support of the influential American radio station KEXP. They recently performed at the Iceland Airwaves Festival, followed by a performance at the inaugural All Tomorrow’s Parties in Iceland, which saw them sharing a line-up which included Nick Cave & The Fall. In the latter part of 2013 the The Pixies invited Mono Town to join them as their special guest on a number of dates in Europe.
The band also took a unique approach and formed a, never-been-done-before, relationship with the International streaming service, Deezer. They released music in the first instance exclusively on Deezer and in just under two months have received just over 1,250,000 million streams on the site. To-date, the album has hit #1 on the Deezer Album Charts in Iceland, Canada, Brazil, Ireland, Italy and Turkey & featured in the # Top 5 charts in Columbia, Germany, Mexico, Singapore and the UK.
